Beyond a certain point, only permitted vehicles are allowed on the Manali-Rohtang highway, and you will need to arrange for a vehicle with a permit (at your own cost) to proceed further. Perched at an altitude of 13,054 feet, Rohtang Pass is situated between the Chenab and Beas river basins and serves as a gateway to Lahaul, Spiti, Pangi, and Leh.
